Government must deliver on public services, says Harney

MINISTERS will have to perform better and deliver on public services if the Government are to avoid another hammering in the general election, Tánaiste Mary Harney said yesterday.

Following a disastrous weekend for the coalition partners, she said it was clear the Government would have to win back the trust of voters by improving the health and education systems.

Ms Harney said voters had sent a clear signal that they wanted improvements to be seen immediately and that the promises made at the 2002 election would have to be delivered.
