By gum, ban will solve town’s sticky problem
Westport Chamber of Commerce says the town will go from Clew Bay to chew bay if a ban on the sale of chewing gum isn’t imposed.
The town lost its title as the tidiest town in Ireland earlier this week. The proposal to ban gum was taken after the chamber members surveyed the streets of the town and found that while litter was low, the town’s pavements did have too much chewing gum and cigarette butts.
