A FORMER chief executive of the Garda Complaints Board will investigate how the Department of Defence and the Army treated the family of a young soldier killed in Lebanon six years ago.

Private Kevin Barrett, 20, from Rathmullen, Co Donegal, was found dead at an Army camp in Brashit in February 1999.

Defence Minister Willie O’Dea will today announce the appointment of Sean Hurley to “review the interaction” between his department, the Army, and the family of Private Barrett in the aftermath.
