Principals may seek €3m over supervision and substitution

SCHOOL principals may seek up to €3m in compensation for their extra workload during last year’s row over supervision and substitution.

The principals, who kept up to 400 schools running during the secondary teachers pay dispute, are to pursue a claim for operating the interim supervision arrangements.

Principals and deputy principals stepped into the breach after Association of Secondary Teachers of Ireland (ASTI) members withdrew from the work over a year ago.
