THE main trade union within An Post has rejected Labour Court proposals which would have allowed wage increases under Sustaining Progress to be paid to all the company’s 10,000 employees.

Under the intricate proposals formulated by the Labour Court earlier this year, cost of living increases were linked to the acceptance by postal collection and delivery staff of significant cost cutting measures.

Yesterday, the Communications Workers' Union section representing postal workers rejected the proposals, saying they placed an excessive burden on members who would be directly affected by the changes.
