High driving test failure rate must end

ALMOST half of Irish motorists fail their driving test — one of the highest European averages.

Opposition politicians say the situation can’t be tolerated and Fine Gael has proposed a three-pronged approach to improve driver skill, safety and tackle carnage on our roads.

Its action plan includes improving driver education, an improved, reformed and modern driving test and new measures to punish those who endanger the safety of others.
