Ex-minister blames ‘sinister campaign’ for downfall

BELEAGUERED ex-minister Ivor Callely insisted yesterday he had been brought down by a “sinister” campaign against him.

In a rambling and at times bizarre interview on RTÉ radio’s Pat Kenny Show, the TD also admitted he had “skeletons in the cupboard”.

The former junior transport minister said he had asked Taoiseach Bertie Ahern to launch an official inquiry into the “false, mischievous and sinister campaign” against him.
