All the world can be your stage

LIGHTS, cameras, action — it’s just got easier to make your mark as a movie star.

All the world can be your stage

All the world’s a stage and if you want to play your part on the big screen, then there’s a new way to get there, thanks to the first Irish casting agency for film extras.

Gone are the days when hard-working movie extras had to scan newspapers, listen to the radio or pick up a flying leaflet on a city street to get that big break.

Time has been called on those endless queues when you jostled with hundreds of other dreamers intent on becoming the next Harrison Ford.

The brainchild of Derek Quinn and Kevin Gill, www.movieextras.ie is the first agency in the county for extras seeking fame.

Subscriptions for a year cost €29 and the entire family can sign up for €69.

You can even give someone a unique Christmas present by buying them a subscription to the site that could become their ticket to stardom.

Production companies making movies, television documentaries, soap operas and commercials always need extras and apparently there’s plenty of work for any ambitious wannabe.

Casting directors can now go online and search the database to select their extras before shooting begins the following day.

To sign up to the site you have to provide your details, and an up-to-date photo to find the director who can make you a star. It’s that easy.
