Man charged with having €400,000 cocaine

A 28-YEAR-OLD living at home with his parents appeared at Dublin District Court yesterday on charges related to having €400,000 worth of cocaine in his possession.

Karl Browne of Kingswood, Tallaght, was charged with having 4kg of the drug in his possession with intent to supply others.

Garda John Reid gave evidence of charging Browne with the offences at Orchard Road, Clondalkin, Co Dublin at 9am yesteday. During his brief court appearance the accused made no reply to the charges. He was remanded in custody with consent to bail in the sum of €25,000.

Last Saturday, the accused was one of three men and a women arrested after detectives found the drugs during searches of three homes in the Tallaght and Templeogue suburbs.

They were held under the Drug Trafficking Act. The women, who is also in her 20s, was released on Saturday evening along with two other men.

A file is being sent to the director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to decide whether they should also be charged.
