Agreement in sight over pay deal for teachers owed up to €30,000

AGREEMENT has almost been reached on a €50 million pay deal in which thousands of teachers are owed up to €30,000 each.

The long-running dispute over part-time pay centres around the amount of work a teacher must do in a school year to move up the pay scale.

But teacher unions and the Department of Education are expected to approve the latest proposal from the public service arbitration board.
