SOURCES close to Fianna Fáil and the Progressive Democrats remained cautiously confident last night that their long-running dispute over Dublin Airport would be resolved at Cabinet today.

Following years of ideological posturing and three months of intense political horse trading, both sides were last night still discussing final details of a four-part plan described as “all but completed”.

Crucially for the PDs, the deal involves a firm commitment to a third terminal while the operation of a second terminal, to be built by the Dublin Airport Authority, will be put out to open tender.
