Garda age limit up to 34 in recruit drive

FOR the first time ever, those aged up to 34 can apply to join the gardaí, a move rubber-stamped by the Government earlier this week.

Other requirements, most notably proficiency in Irish, remain but are under review.

As the first stage of what the Minister for Justice Michael McDowell describes as an accelerated recruitment campaign begins today, it was announced that the age limit has been increased in line with the Garda Commissioner Noel Conroy’s recommendations.
