Adams blasts McDowell over State’s role

SINN FÉIN leader Gerry Adams yesterday launched a scathing attack on Justice Minister Michael McDowell, saying he had no confidence in the minister’s capacity as a negotiator.

Mr Adams’ attack was prompted by Mr McDowell’s description of the Government’s role in the peace process as one of an honest broker.

Clearly angered by events of the previous 48 hours, Mr Adams said it was little wonder the British Government had ignored the views of Dublin.
