Two four-cornered leader battles to begin

FOUR contenders are set to battle it out in each of two separate contests for the jobs of leader and deputy leader of the Labour Party.

With nominations set to close tomorrow, party sources expect the contest for each post will break down to two four-cornered battles.

Transfers will hold the key, and the final result of this first ever poll by the membership of a political party in Ireland will be difficult to predict.
