FG/Labour to hammer Government spending with ‘end of waste’ motion

FINE Gael and Labour will attempt to hammer the Government’s spending record in the Dáil this week on the back of the Comptroller and Auditor General’s report which highlighted Government departments and State agencies mishandling and wasting taxpayers’ money.

In a further example of co-operation between the two parties hoping to present a viable alternative government to voters at the next general election, they will table a joint motion calling attention to the Comptroller’s report.

It will criticise “Government incompetence and mismanagement” in spending public funds, and call on the Fianna Fáil-PD coalition to bring forward proposals “to end waste” and ensure value for money is achieved.
