A TELEVISION programme showing a performance artist eating the flesh of a dead baby to be broadcast this week has been condemned by children’s protection groups.

Beijing Swings will be shown on Channel 4 on Thursday night. The programme looks at the extreme practices of some artists in China.

Already the show has been criticised by the ISPCC’s chief executive, Paul Gilligan, who last night urged the British broadcaster immediately to pull the programme. “This is absolutely appalling. There is no rationale for screening something like this other than for the shock factor, and that’s certainly not a good enough reason to do it,” he said.
