Underdogs take on the Dubs for a taste of reality
Following the successful On Home Ground production and a litany of reality television hits, TG4 is bidding to go one better.
Anyone over 18 who ever wanted to play inter-county Gaelic football but never got the chance is being invited to audition for the station’s new fly-on-the-wall documentary series, Underdogs.
TG4 and Dublin-based production company Adare Productions are looking for a team of unknowns to compete against the Dublin senior football team in Parnell Park before Christmas.
TG4 are scouring the country looking for the best team of players never to have represented their county beyond under-16 level.
This squad of 20 players, under the watchful eye of the TG4 cameras, will be picked, trained and moulded into a team that will take on Dublin in their own backyard. The one-off game will be broadcast live on TG4.
A three-man panel will pick and train the Underdogs squad. The panel comprises three GAA legends: Dublin’s Brian Mullins, Kerry’s Mickey Ned O Sullivan and Armagh’s Jarlath Burns.
The panel and TG4 cameras will be holding nation-wide trials over the coming weeks from which the squad will be chosen.
Players who want to be involved can apply on line at www.tg4.ie/underdogs or send a stamped addressed envelope to PO Box 5444 B.Á.C. 18. For more information call the Underdogs information line:
