TCH All-Ireland Schools Quiz underway
The first draw of the competition was made yesterday, setting in motion an event which will pit this country’s finest general knowledge minds against each other.
Between the first heats on November 25 and the grand finale in April of next year, the quiz will include representatives from schools throughout the country.
From Donegal to County Wexford and from West Cork to North East Antrim, there has been a staggering national response to the event.
The Quiz has its genesis in the former Cork Examiner Munster Schools Quiz which ran with extraordinary enthusiasm and support from 1992-99.
The new, re-invented competition reflects the changing national face of Thomas Crosbie Holdings.
Thomas Crosbie Holdings is the fastest growing media group in Ireland and currently consists of nine regional titles, morning and evening dailies (including the Irish Examiner) and a Sunday publication, as well as having substantial involvement in local radio (three stations) and an electronic publishing division.
The quiz will be based on a knock-out system with first and second round heats organised on a regional basis, explained quiz organiser Barry Woods.
