Probe launched after prisoner cracks security system

AN investigation is underway after a prisoner cracked a new multi-million euro hi-tech security system in Cork jail.

The Prison Service confirmed yesterday that the man managed to bypass a digital palm-scanning machine and pin code system at the jail.

The security system, which was recently installed, is aimed at freeing up prison guards for other duties within the jail.
