AN Irish Examiner photographer was honoured at a gala dinner in Dublin last night after he picked up a top prize at the AIB Irish Press Photographers Association Awards.

The IPPA awards recognise excellence in Irish photojournalism and showcase the work of the most distinguished press photographers of the year.

The Irish Examiner’s Des Barry came first in the features section for his ‘Cow Power’ shot which was taken at the Bantry Show in west Cork. Judges described the photograph as having “the power to take your vision beyond that which is immediately obvious.”
