THE Higher Education Authority (HEA) yesterday announced 1,100 extra places on third-level information and communications technology (ICT) courses.

They are mostly for part-time students, ranging from traineeships to masters degrees at the country’s universities and institutes of technology.

ICT Ireland, the body representing the hi-tech sector within employer’s group IBEC, announced it will provide 100 job placements for engineering and computer science graduates.
