Colaiste Mhuire takes honours in gripping quiz

COLAISTE Mhuire, Crosshaven, took the honours in a gripping contest in the latest round of the Thomas Crosbie Holdings quiz at the Imperial Hotel, Cork, last night.

The Crosshaven school won with a score of 66 points. The team consisted of Maeve Leonard, Julie Daunt, Mitch Cuddihy, and David Cahill.

In joint second place were St Patrick’s College, Gardiner’s Hill, Cork, and St Colman’s Midleton.

Also qualifying were Toirberte Bandon, who won with a score of 54 points. The Bandon team was made up of Niamh Finn, Megan Platts, Sinead Long and Áine Fehilly. They defeated St Vincent’s Secondary School, Cork, who had 42 points.

Colaiste an Spioraid Naoimh, Bishopstown, progressed with a very high score of 104 points. The Bishopstown team was Darragh Kearns-Hayes, Barry Buttimer, Colm O’Regan, and Joseph Lynch.

Spioraid Naoimh beat St Joseph’s, Rochestown, with 82 points, and third were Carrigaline Community School with 74 points.

Meanwhile, at Hayes Hotel, Thurles, Gairm Scoil Mhuire Thurles, and Ursuline Secondary School Thurles, drew but theUrsulines go through as they had more correct individual answers. The teams had 74 points each and a close third were Presentation School Ballingarry.

Rockwell College also progressed, beating Cashel Community School with a scored of 92 points. The Rockwell team was Robert Foley, Sarah Long, Kieran McCarthy and Christopher Hale.
