Taxpayers hit by €20m tribunal bill

THE Moriarty Tribunal has cost €19.6 million to date - €14.66m of which has gone to the inquiry’s legal team, the Government revealed yesterday.

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny labelled the figures “truly extraordinary” given that the tribunal has yet to produce a report.

Moriarty and the various other tribunals and public inquiries have now cost more than €200m, with no end in sight for several.
