Dolores McNamara’s dark family secret
Her nephew, Anthony ‘Noddy’ McCarthy, was one of five men convicted in 2003 of the murder of Limerick crime boss Kieran Keane.
McCarthy was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder by Judge Paul Carney at the Central Criminal Court on December 20, 2003.
He is also a first cousin of Wayne Dundon, described by senior gardaí as one of the most violent criminals they have come across. Kieran Keane was killed at Drombana, Limerick, on January 29, 2003.
The four others found guilty of his murder were Desmond Dundon of Hyde Road, David Stanners of Pineview Gardens, Moyross, James McCarthy of Delmege Park, Moyross, and Christopher ‘Smokie’ Costelloe of Moylish Avenue. The five were also found guilty of the attempted murder of Owen Treacy and of two counts of falsely imprisoning Mr Keane and Mr Treacy.
