Cost of living 3.1% dearer in Dublin

THE gap between the cost of living in Dublin and the rest of the country is narrowing but Dublin is still over 3% dearer, and even more so when it comes to drink, tobacco, vegetables and ladies’ haircuts.

Seats in the cinema were 20.9% dearer in Dublin while a trip to the hairdressers for a ladies’ wash, cut & blow dry was €35, 13.4% (€4) higher than elsewhere in the country.

In its twice-yearly average price analysis comparing the capital and areas outside it, the Central Statistics Office (CSO) found prices were 3.1% higher in Dublin.
