Sinnott to contest EU elections in tough Munster constituency
Kathy Sinnott, who almost took the fifth and final seat from Fianna Fáil's John Dennehy in Cork South Central in 2002, will stand as an independent.
On the canvass trail in Kerry yesterday, Ms Sinnott said she was running for election because "we need people in Europe that understand us and represent us and represent everyday issues".
