POSTAL workers and Communications Minister Dermot Ahern clashed yesterday over claims he had cheated them out of their shares in the company.

The Communications Workers Union (CWU) claimed the minister had reneged on an Employee Share Ownership Trust (ESOT) agreement that the Government and the company signed with them in July 2000.

The deal stated that postal workers would acquire a 14.9% share in An Post in return for co-operation with a radical transformation agreement.
