THE Garda Press Office last night declined to comment on the apparent leaking of a document from Commissioner Noel Conroy which defends the disastrous investigation into the death of Donegal cattle dealer Richie Barron.

The document, large sections of which were published by the Sunday Business Post yesterday, comes as the Morris Tribunal into garda corruption in Donegal continues behind the scenes preparations for its next round of public hearings in three weeks time.

In it, Commissioner Conroy describes the investigation into Mr Barron’s death as extensive, efficient and thorough, and concludes it met with best practice standards given the unusual circumstances it encountered.
