DRIER summers, wetter winters and more extreme weather conditions will have a damaging effect on Irish people’s lives in the next 50 years, scientists have warned.

A report for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on the effects of climate change paints a completely different picture of the country by 2055.

It predicts a higher risk of winter flooding along the west coast because of higher winter rainfall, expected to increase by as much as 10%.
