DRIVERS will be required to slow to 20kmh near school buses under Government plans revealed by school transport minister Síle de Valera yesterday.

Ms de Valera also plans to have flashing lights installed at the back of the country’s 3,000 school buses to alert motorists behind when they are slowing down or stopping for pupils.

Although the time scale and possible penalties have yet to be decided, Ms de Valera said the regulations can be introduced quickly.
