Haughey stakes claim for replacing Callely

WITH the Cabinet expected to appoint a new Minister of State at the Department of Transport this week, Sean Haughey has firmly thrown his hat into the ring by saying the post would be the next logical step in his career.

Mr Haughey - one of the strongest contenders for beleaguered Ivor Callely’s former job - said he would welcome the challenge.

“It would be the next logical step, but it’s purely a matter for the Taoiseach,” said the Dublin North Central TD.
