SPECIAL EU cross-border police squads will be set up in the coming months to combat organised crime and terrorism.

The joint investigation teams will comprise of police officers from participating EU countries and will target trafficking in drugs and people as well as terrorism.

Justice Minister Michael McDowell said he intends to implement the Criminal Justice (Joint Investigations Teams) Bill this autumn.
