DPP will not oppose Wall miscarriage application

THE Director of Public Prosecutions is not expected to oppose an application by former nun Nora Wall that there was a gross miscarriage of justice in her case.

She may now pursue a claim for damages against the State.

In July 1999, Ms Wall and Paul McCabe, who has since passed away, had their convictions for rape quashed by the Court of Criminal Appeal. They were released on bail pending a court decision on whether to order a new trial.
