EIGHTEEN police officers and eleven other people were hurt in a running battle with nationalist protesters following the latest violence to flare up during an Orange Order parade in the North.

PSNI detectives are scanning CCTV footage of the Tour of the North march, where missiles, including six petrol bombs, were thrown by nationalist protesters as the parade passed a flashpoint area at Ardoyne on its return journey.

PSNI District Commander, Chief Supt Mike Little, said his officers came under “sustained attack.”
