Massive fire destroys cars at scrapyard

FINGLAS residents have expressed concern that they were exposed to potentially toxic fumes after a large area of Dublin’s northside was engulfed by a huge cloud of smoke yesterday.

The large, mushroom-like plume was caused by a massive fire which ignited over 100 cars at a scrapyard at Dunsink Lane, Finglas.

A Garda patrol car alerted emergency services about the fire at around 11.20 am and six units of Dublin Fire Brigade were called to the scene.
