A CHILDREN’S charity is urging people to give up the price of a drink to help combat the human cost of alcohol problems.

People urged donate price of drink to tackle abuse

The money raised by the Barnardos Friday Night Box Appeal will go towards projects helping underprivileged children and their families, many of whom come from homes affected by drink abuse.

“We’re asking the public to look at the real cost of drink to Irish society. We’re not saying that adults should not be able to enjoy drink, but we ask adults, especially parents, to take a more mature and responsible look at their own attitudes to drink,” said the charity’s fundraising and communications director, Deirdre Mortell.
