Vomiting bug alert in Galway

THE Western Health Board has confirmed an outbreak of the highly contagious vomiting bug at St Francis Community Nursing Unit at Newcastle in Galway.

Nine elderly residents of the unit have been affected and the Board state that the normal infection control measures have been put in place to deal with and minimise the outbreak.

Visiting has been restricted to essential visits only during the outbreak.
