Householders warned of refuse charge hikes due to landfill crisis

REFUSE charge hikes could be on the way in Waterford, as landfill space runs out, householders and business groups have warned.

Landfill space is running out fast in the county and no alternative dump sites have been immediately identified within the region, the local authority has admitted.

Finding alternative space for landfill is now a priority, according to acting county manager Peter Carey.
