Ahern bids to quell backbench anger over reshuffle

TAOISEACH Bertie Ahern last night countered simmering backbench dissent, insisting his Cabinet reshuffle would revitalise ailing Government fortunes.

Speaking as a rising number of backbenchers expressed disappointment at this week’s reshuffle, Mr Ahern denied he had not been radical enough.
