MARINE Minister Dermot Ahern was holding make-or-break meetings with the Spanish last night and this morning over the Irish Box as fishermen threatened to wage war.

Today in Brussels the annual fishing meeting enters its final and crucial phase with all the countries sitting around the table to fight over what quantity of fish can be caught for the year.

But the signs for the future of the Irish fishing industry were looking very bleak as all their demands were being denied.
