THE Teachers’ Union of Ireland has called on Education Minister Mary Hanafin to immediately implement major recommendations contained in a 2003 report on reform of the further and adult education sector.

The TUI also urged the minister to abolish the cap introduced last year, which limits the number of students in Post-Leaving Cert (PLC) courses.

Several motions were passed during yesterday’s TUI congress in Dublin calling on the union’s executive to press for speedy reform of the sector.
