Barron death probe a cock-up, says garda chief

GARDA Commissioner Noel Conroy yesterday described the garda investigation into the death of Richie Barron as “a cock-up”.

Mr Conroy said all the problems stemmed from the decision not to preserve the scene of Mr Barron’s death on October 14, 1996.

“It was a cock-up really, in the preservation of the scene. That was a major problem,” he said.
