Winter feed shortage crisis faces farmers

SOME farmers are facing the prospect of a winter feed shortage because of the wet weather, which has caused serious delays to harvesting work over the past two months.

Yesterday, Teagasc, the State advisory and research body, said it was difficult at this stage to estimate the extent of the shortage nationally.

Advisers carried out the updated assessment on the impact of the weather on farming countrywide earlier this week.
