Gardaí seize drugs worth €200,000

GARDAÍ have seized more than €200,000 worth of illegal drugs in two hauls in counties Clare and Meath.

Two kilos of cocaine were seized at a business premises in Clonee, Co Meath, at lunchtime yesterday. The haul is estimated to have a street value of €160,000.

The planned search was carried out by the Dublin North Central drugs units and gardaí from Ashbourne.

A Dublin man in his 30s is in custody in Ashbourne Garda Station, following the seizure. He can be held for up to seven days.

Two men in their 30s are being questioned at Henry Street Garda Station in Limerick following the seizure of €50,000 worth of cannabis resin in Killaloe, Co Clare.

The men were arrested on Tuesday evening in an operation involving the Limerick Garda Drugs Squad, the

National Customs Drugs team and Killaloe gardaí. They are being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drugs Trafficking Act and can be detained for 72 hours.

This latest haul brings the total amount of drugs seized in the Limerick region over the last two years to €4 million.
