Mandatory tests ‘will worsen prison drugs problem’

MANDATORY drug testing in prisons will increase problems caused by drugs, penal reformers have claimed.

Justice Minister Michael McDowell is drawing up plans for mandatory drug testing in the country's jails.

But the Irish Penal Reform Trust (IPRT) has criticised the plans saying they would be counterproductive.
