A YOUNG mother delivered a healthy baby girl in the front seat of a car - with the help of her husband and a garda from nearby.

In a night of high drama for the Byrne family from Naas, the baby was born shortly after midnight in the car park of the garda station in Rathcoole, west Dublin.

Both mother and baby were recovering in the city centre Coombe hospital yesterday after Tuesday night’s emergency delivery.
