Apple must pay VirnetX Holding Corp more than $625m (€558m) for using the patent licencing company’s Internet security technology without permission in its FaceTime and iMessage features, a federal jury in Texas said.

Apple has been ordered to pay $625.6 m after a federal jury in East Texas ruled that services like FaceTime and iMessage infringed on technology patents held by Nevada patent-holding company VirnetX.
