Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) is to fork out €100,000 to have ‘eyes in the sky’ to help survey the country’s multi-billion euro motorway system.

Talks are taking place about safety upgrades at a death-trap junction on the N20 Cork to Limerick road.

Funding for maintaining the national road network is to be cut by as much as 30%, local authorities have been told.

It will be “challenging” to prevent major disruption for commuters during the €100m upgrade of the busiest road junction outside Dublin, admits Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII).
