People living in a town in West Cork are celebrating its declaration as the 'Best Kept Town in Ireland'.

A special €40,000 public sculpture is to be commissioned for the town to mark the achievement.

A year ago it was Ireland’s tidiest village but this year Birdhill occupies an even higher perch after winning the overall national title of the country’s tidiest town.
