A garda superintendent has stated he did and said nothing that could have given rise to an incorrect allegation that garda whistleblower Maurice McCabe was “blackmailing” a senior colleague.

Former Garda Commissioner, Martin Callinan's description in January 2014 of the actions of Sgt Maurice McCabe as “disgusting” resulted in “open season” on the whistleblower, the Disclosures Tribunal has heard.
